Blue Green Algae Drink - Spirulina

Nutritional Facts / Suggested Use: Spirulina is a tiny blue-green algae in the shape of a perfect spiral coil. Biologically speaking, it is one of the oldest inhabitants of the planet. Its scientific name is Arthrospira Plantensis. Spirulina has been exhaustively and extensively tested by scientists around the world, and is found to be the most powerful and well-balanced source of nutrition available on the planet.

Key Points / Key Ingredients: Scientific name for what we commonly call Spirulina is Arthrospira platensis. It belongs to the family of several species of microalgae such as blue-green aphanizomenon (the closest "relative" of Spirulina) and green algae chlorella and dunaliella. These microscopic dark-green algae have the shape of spiral coils.Their color is explained by a combination of several natural pigments found in Spirulina: chlorophyll (green), carotenoids (yellow and orange) and phycocyanin (blue). Many nutrients which protect our bodies are densely concentrated in Spirulina. Spirulina is a powerful defense against oxidant stress. It can cleanse and detox our bodies from causes of stress. This remarkable plant has some of the most powerful protective nutrients of any food.

Benefit: Spirulina is called a super food because its nutrient content is more potent than any other food. Many of the essential nutrients needed by our bodies are concentrated in spirulina. It is comprised of at least 60% all-vegetable protein, essential vitamins and phytonutrients such as the rare essential fatty acid GLA, sulfolipids, glycolipids and polysaccharides.

Psyllium Husk & Bentonite Clay Fiber Detox Shake

Psyllium Husk Fiber
Nutritional Facts / Suggested Use:
The fiber inherent in psyllium husk can enhance digestive health and promote regularity, both major goals of an effective cleanse. Psyllium is important for many reasons. Since it contains carbohydrates, it can help diarrhea. It can help ease the pain of hemorrhoids and cystitis. Psyllium Husks have anti-inflammatory properties, and can be beneficial for those with diabetes. In some studies, it has been shown that Psyllium Husk can improve lipid control in Type 2 diabetes. Aids in weight loss control. Maintains healthy cholesterol levels. Maintains healthy blood pressure levels. Treats IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). Treats yeast infections.

Key Points / Key Ingredients: Psyllium husk or "isphagula" is the covering of seeds grown on the plant, Plantago Psyllium, which flourishes in the Middle East. 100% natural Psyllium Husk Powder has nothing added!. It is the active ingredient used in products like "Metamucil." But natural Psyllium Husk powder has no sweeteners, synthetics, fillers, flavorings, colorings or preservatives and no wheat or gluten for those of you with sensitivities or Celiac Disease. Bentonite Clay
Nutritional Facts / Suggested Use: When combined with Bentonite Clay, psyllium husk can further help detoxify the digestive tract. Together these two wonderful ingredients sweep through the intestinal tract binding toxins and removing loosened mucoid plaque and other debris as they exit the body. At Detox Oasis, we've learned that people simply felt better when they took a shake comprised of Bentonite Clay and Psyllium Husks. Taken internally, liquid bentonite supports the intestinal system in the elimination of toxins. Liquid bentonite is inert which means it passes through the body undigested. Diarrhea can be remedied through the use of bentonite clay because of its ability to bind stools. Bentonite clay can take effect right away by binding to irritants in the gastrointestinal tract.

The psychological and nutritional benefit of starting your day with exercise will help keep you focused on making healthy and positive choices throughout the day.

Key Points / Key Ingredients: Exercising early in the morning "jump starts" your metabolism, keeping it elevated for hours, sometimes for up to 24 hours! As a result, you'll be burning more calories all day long—just because you exercised in the morning.

Benefit: Studies have shown that exercise significantly increases mental acuity—a benefit that lasts four to ten hours after your workout ends. Exercising in the a.m. means you get to harness that brainpower, instead of wasting it while you're snoozing. Nutritional Facts / Suggested Use: Probiotics are "live microorganisms which when administered in adequate amount confer a health benefit on the host. The world is full of microorganisms (including bacteria), and so are people's bodies—in and on the skin, in the gut, and in other orifices. Friendly bacteria are vital to proper development of the immune system, to protection against microorganisms that could cause disease, and to the digestion and absorption of food and nutrients. Interactions between a person and the microorganisms in his body, can be crucial to the person's health and well-being. Bacterial balance can thrown off in two major ways: 1) by antibiotics, when they kill friendly bacteria in the gut along with unfriendly bacteria. 2) by "Unfriendly" microorganisms such as disease-causing bacteria, yeasts, fungi, and parasites can also upset the balance, especially for diarrhea from rotavirus.

Key Points / Key Ingredients: Most probiotics are bacteria similar to those naturally found in people's guts, especially in those of breastfed infants (who have natural protection against many diseases). Most often, the bacteria come from two groups, Lactobacillus or Bifidobacterium. Within each group, there are different species (for example, Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidus), and within each species, different strains (or varieties). A few common probiotics, such as Saccharomyces boulardii, are yeasts, which are different from bacteria.

Benefit: Research has suggested that probiotic bacteria can: Help reduce the risk of certain Diahhreahl illnesses. Assist lactose intolerant people with lactose digestion. Enhance the immune function. Some preliminary studies also report that certain probiotics can play a role in reducing the development of allergy in children, decreasing Helicobacter pylori colonization of the stomach, helping patients cope with side effects of antibiotic therapy, managing relapse of some inflammatory bowel conditions, decreasing the risk of certain cancers, decreasing dental-caries-causing microbes in the mouth, and keeping healthy people healthy.

But most of all it is an excellent tool to stimulate the relaxation response that results in less tension and an overall sense of well being.

And your core is where all movement in your body originates. Your core is of utmost importance for your overall health related fitness. At Detox Oasis, we offer a daily abs class to help build your core abdominal strength.

Benefit:
Abdominal exercises help strengthen your abs and provide trunk (core) stability. Your core is where all movement in your body originates. The abs help support and protect the internal organs and aid in breathing, especially exhaling. Also, these muscles work with the back to control trunk motion, such as twisting and bending.

Weight Training At Detox Oasis

Nutritional Facts / Suggested Use: We offer training while fasting similar to many of the programs in Thailand that more Europeans moving towards. Weight training with some modification to accommodate the body's adjustment to the fast will increase fat loss many times over than if you were not weight training. Not just that, but you will increase your body's utilization for burning Lean Body Mass (LBM) or muscle as well as fat. Most of the fat or adipose tissue will be burned when you are resting, not while you are training.

Key Points / Key Ingredients:
At Detox Oasis, we concentrate on "Body Part" training of one or two body parts per day. This allows guests to break up the workouts into shorter sessions in order to achieve goals even when their energy levels might be depleted during certain segments of their detox fasting.

Benefit:
Weight training offers the following health benefits: enhances metabolic rate and burns more calories, improves bone density, improves body composition and lean muscle mass, enhances muscle definition, stronger connective tissue and joint stability.

Colonics Start

Nutritional Facts / Suggested Use: You may discover colonics, also called colon hydrotherapy or colon cleansing on a colemea board can be greatly beneficial in the prevention, treatment and relief of many common health ailments. Many doctors are now embracing colonic irrigation as an adjunct to their traditional medical treatments, or as part an overall regimen of complementary and alternative medicine designed to cleanse and detoxify their patient's colon, liver, kidney and lymphatic systems.

Key Points / Key Ingredients:
Use of the colema board is self-administered if you choose to use it. Before inserting your colema tip into the tube on the board, rinse well. Each guest will have their own tip. Apply a small amount of lubricant on the rectal tube so colema tip will be easily inserted, being careful not to clog the holes. Position your body on colema board in order to easily insert the colema tip into the rectum. Slide body down until the buttocks are close to the opening. Open clamp on the colonic to allow the solution to flow into the colon. You do not have to remove the rectal tip in order to evacuate. The fecal matter will bypass the tip, allowing normal bowel action. Begin abdomen massage. Start massaging upward on your left side. If you find any tender or sore areas, continue to massage until the tenderness is gone. Continue up to the ribs on the left, then across the abdomen and down the right side. This brings the solution to the ascending colon. When cramping or the desire to evacuate occurs, close off the water clamp (in-flow) and relieve the bowel.

Benefit: By removing the toxins that have built up over time, colon cleansing allows the digestive system to function more efficiently. More nutrients are absorbed from food, and toxins are flushed out of the colon before they have a chance to harm our health. This improves the health of the immune system and the entire body. Colon cleansing helps to remove this undigested waste as well as the hardened fecal matter that is blocking the passageway of the colon. Waste can pass quickly and efficiently through the system, preventing or alleviating the development of constipation.

In the American Journal of Surgery (1940), Benjamin Gruskin, M.D. recommends chlorophyll for its antiseptic benefits. The article suggests the following clinical uses for chlorophyll in wheat grass to treat skin conditions, reduce typhoid fever, and cure advanced pyorrhea in many cases. Wheatgrass Juice cures acne and even helps to remove scars after it has been ingested for seven to eight months. The diet must be improved at the same time.

Nutritional Facts / Suggested Use: Fasting with juicing is quickly becoming an enhanced method of detoxification for the body. Plant sources contain both antioxidant and digestive enzymes. Fasting with some juices helps ensure we get more nutrients during the fast. In fact, green foods contain enzyme complexes that are identical to those enzyme complexes manufactured by the body. Our bodies have a limited ability to manufacture enzymes and juicing an easy way to provide these enzymes. Juicing has a positive effect on depression by providing a concentrated source of minerals like magnesium, potassium, iron, calcium, and folic acid. Deficiencies of these nutrients are associated with symptoms of depression.

Key Points / Key Ingredients:
If you are monitoring your blood sugar intake, fruit juices contain a high amount of fructose, so we recommend a concentration of high alkaline green vegetable juices while fasting like celery, spinach, broccoli, cucumber blends. Fruit juices are revitalizers and body cleansers but higher concentrations of fruit juices can raise your insulin levels and may spike hunger during a fast. Whole fruits are more easily digested than vegetables and are a good source of fiber. Vegetables are harder to digest when eaten whole. The body can quickly absorb larger amounts of nutrients from juices than from solid foods because the process of digestion that occurs when you eat whole foods is bypassed. Raw fruits and vegetables contain many substances that enhance health, and juicing benefits the body by providing the most concentrated and readily absorbed source of these substances. Juicing is an easy way to get essential enzymes that can increase the metabolic rate. Juices are loaded with phytochemicals that fight disease. Antioxidants and other immune enhancing properties are concentrated in juices. Juicing can help accelerate recovery from illness and provide anti-aging benefits by attacking free radicals.

Hatha Yoga or Stretch Class

Nutritional Facts / Suggested Use: Focusing on systematically stretching and compressing every part of the body, Yoga is particularly well-suited to keeping the waste-removal departments of the body functioning well. This facilitates the removal of waste products such as carbon dioxide, lactic acid and lymphatic fluid from the deep tissues and extremities of the body that a jog or a bike ride just don't reach. Yogic breathing also plays an important role in promoting detoxification. Yoga and fasting go hand in hand. Fasting is an important aspect for the spiritual aspirant, and yoga is very beneficial for one who is seeking purification through fasting. Physically, yoga and fasting also complement each other perfectly and the combination of gentle moving, stretching and twisting together with deep breathing, speeds up the detoxification process.

Tips for fasting and joining a yoga class: 1. It is good to understand what yoga is, read or ask about it. 2. Wear loose clothing. 3. We use a Yoga style that is less dynamic and not extremely physically challenging. 4. Focus on your breathing. 5. Don't push too hard -- it's not a contest. 6. Select the afternoon class, before it's time to break the fast. 7. Talk to the instructor and discuss any health conditions you may have so he or she will know how to help. 8. Sit in the middle of the class to have a clear view of the instructor and the chance to watch other participants; be aware their position may be incorrect; do take your cue from the instructor. 9. Ask questions and discuss any difficulties after class.

Benefit:
During the detox process you need to excrete the toxins that are being dumped into your system. In Yoga, the lymph and blood transporting the released toxins are pumped through the body at a faster rate, improving drainage of toxins and speeding up the elimination of excess fluid. This helps decrease side effects of the detox process such as: headaches, nausea, cold and flu like symptoms skin outbreaks and fatigue. Participating in yoga during our detox program will help most achieve a new level of physical, mental and spiritual awareness. Even if you have never practiced yoga before, you will still gain benefits. It is important to work at your own level and not to push yourself or compare yourself to the person next to you. Yoga will benefit you greatly on all levels: physical, mental and spiritual, and will not only speed up the detox process, but also help to prevent stress and release built-up chronic tension and increase your energy levels.

Massage or Sauna

Nutritional Facts / Suggested Use: During a 15-minute sauna, sweating can perform the heavy metal excretion that would take the kidneys 24 working hours. Ninety-nine percent of what sweat brings to the surface of the skin is water, but the remaining one percent is mostly undesirable wastes. Excessive salt carried by sweat is generally believed to be beneficial for cases of mild hypertension. Saunas deep cleanse the skin.

Heat therapy once or twice daily will help with the detoxification process. Nutritional Facts / Suggested Use: Cardio, short for cardiovascular exercise, is any movement that gets your heart rate up and increases blood circulation throughout the body. There are various forms and methods of performing cardio exercise - all which will have specific benefits and guidelines. Most individuals performing cardio are using it as a way to burn off excess calories and since you are moving the body, it is going to increase the need for energy. Some forms are slightly better when strictly speaking of fat loss but all cardio, regardless of form will burn off calories. Since fat loss does depend on calories burned versus calories consumed it is a step in the right direction. When starting a cardio program you can improve your conditioning by starting out with short bursts of lower intensity and gradually increasing your intensity and interval duration.

Cleansing Broth / Potassium Essence Broth

Nutritional Facts / Suggested Use: Cleansing Broth - 1 1/2 quarts of water, 1 large onion, 3 carrots, 2 cubed potatoes, 1 cup of fresh parsley, chopped. 2 stalks of celery with tops. Bring to boil. Reduce heat. Simmer 30 minutes. Strain. Add 1 TBS Braggs Liquid Aminos. Potassium Broth - (For a 2 day supply) Cover with water in a soup pot 3 to 4 carrots, 3 stalks of celery, 1/2 bunch parsley, 2 potatoes with skins, 1/2 head cabbage, 1 onion and 1/2 bunch broccoli. Simmer covered 30 minutes. Add 2 tsp. Braggs Liquid Aminos. While broths may not be as treated or pure as juices, they provide an excellent source of energy, minerals and electrolytes. They help keep potassium levels in check while fasting and provide a warm liquid alternative.
